Call system for home services
The line that answers while the crew is on a job.
Point the shop number at Terri. It answers live, books the jobs that would have gone to the next plumber, and transfers anything with a safety line.

What the line does on a trade call
Same call system as every other floor. The instructions are the service area, the hours, the diagnostic fee, and who to wake up.
- Books the job on the call A burst pipe or a dead furnace does not leave a voicemail. Terri picks up live, takes the address and the problem in the caller's words, and books an arrival window against the dispatch calendar you give it.
- Qualifies the service area first Check the ZIP or city before the intake. Callers outside the area get a fast, polite no. Callers inside it get a window, not a promise that someone will call back.
- Covers the days that decide the quarter The first freeze, the first heat wave, and the storm that floods basements multiply inbound volume against a phone sized for a normal Tuesday. Terri takes the spike without a hiring decision.
- Moves windows and running-late calls Where is my technician, can I move the window, running late. Those calls used to sit on a mobile while the crew was in a crawlspace. Terri handles them and can place the outbound confirmation when you ask.
What always reaches a person
The line is a call system, not a technician. Safety and money decisions stay with you.
- Gas, CO, and active flood Write this before any other instruction and test it from an outside line. Terri tells the caller to leave and call the utility or 911, then reaches a person.
- Judgment calls An upset homeowner, a warranty fight, or a decision about overtime on a holiday. Terri transfers to your verified number instead of guessing.
Frequently asked questions
Why do missed calls cost a home-service shop so much?
The first contractor to pick up usually gets the job. A homeowner with no heat or an active leak calls down the list until someone answers, so voicemail hands the work to a competitor.
Can Terri qualify the service area on the call?
Yes, when you publish a service area. Terri should check the ZIP or city first so a five-minute intake does not end in a polite decline. Out-of-area callers get a fast no instead of a wasted truck.
Which home-service calls should always reach a person?
Gas smells, carbon monoxide alarms, sparking or burning smells, active flooding, and no heat for a vulnerable occupant in freezing weather. Those transfer immediately. A caller reporting gas or CO should be told to leave and call the utility or 911.
Will Terri quote a repair over the phone?
No. A firm quote for work nobody has seen either cannot be honored on site or loses money. Give the published diagnostic fee, and a range only if you publish one. The technician quotes the repair.
